Our Mission

Our mission is to create a community brings together young citizens who share a passion for learning, discussing, and shaping the public policies that define our shared future. We believe lasting progress begins with respectful dialogue, responsible action, and a deep trust in democratic principles.

Every student, every voice, and every idea matters in shaping the communities we live in. That’s why our mission is to unite young people to use discussion, research, advocacy, and action to push for meaningful policy change and make sure our voices are heard by those in power.

We believe that change does not have to wait until we grow up. Our voice and our future deserve to be heard now.

A Note from the Founder

Hello everyone, I am Aurora (a.k.a. Gigi). In 2025, I founded the WeTheYouthCare Youth Council. Through the joint efforts of several student leaders and me, our Youth Council has grown to 60 members, with members from New Jersey, New York, Maryland, and other regions.

WeTheYouthCare was founded on a simple but strong belief: young people’s voices should be heard, and they should be part of the decisions that shape our future.

Currently, our major initiatives include advocating to remove sales taxes on menstrual products and recognize them as essential health necessities; supporting personal finance literacy education as a high school graduation requirement; and promoting fitness and nutrition education in elementary schools to help children develop healthy habits from an early age.

To support these causes, we launch initiatives, collect signatures through online and paper petitions, and submit our advocacy to government officials and legislative bodies. Through these efforts, we hope to bring the concerns of young people to policymakers and ensure that youth voices are included in shaping our shared future.

Our work has already received responses from legislators and the federal government, including responses from U.S. Senators and the President of the United States. These responses have encouraged us and reminded us that youth voices may be young, but they are not weak. When we are willing to learn, speak up, and take action, we can create real impact.

We are also encouraged to see that some states made meaningful legislative progress on related issues during 2025 and 2026. Moving forward, WeTheYouthCare will continue working to raise awareness of the concerns of young people, advocate for meaningful public policy changes, and inspire more youth to participate in civic engagement.
